Hi, I’m Wendy – Welcome to Homeschool Hourglass!
I’m so glad you’re here! I started Homeschool Hourglass because I know how overwhelming teaching and planning can feel—whether you’re homeschooling full-time, running a co-op, or just looking for a little extra support for your kids.
By day, I’m a math teacher in North Carolina, and my favorite thing is watching that “lightbulb moment” when a tricky concept finally clicks. I believe math—and really all learning—should make sense, not just be memorized. That’s why I focus on teaching for understanding and creating lessons that actually stick.
But my passion doesn’t stop at the classroom door. I’m also an instructional designer and curriculum developer, which means I spend a lot of time designing hands-on activities, creative projects, and easy-to-use resources that make teaching feel less stressful and a lot more fun.
You’ll also find me writing children’s books and poetry (yes, I love words as much as numbers!) and creating tools like planners, trackers, and journals to help parents and kids stay organized. One of my favorite projects is my “Game of Real Life” course, where teens get to practice real-world skills like budgeting, career readiness, and problem-solving—skills they’ll actually use long after graduation.
Homeschool Hourglass is my way of sharing all of that with you. Here, you’ll find resources to save you time, spark curiosity, and give your kids a love for learning that goes beyond the textbook.
